Defending Life in South Africa
Of all the countries I’ve been blessed to visit while defending life, South Africa is definitely a favorite. On this return trip Ellen and I spent a two-week lecture tour among our “extended family.”
The fifteen-hour flight to Johannesburg seemed worth it once we finally got to our destination of Durban. Our base of operations was the expansive KwaSizabantu Mission.

Bradley Mattes is president of Life Issues Institute. The organization was founded by pro-life pioneer Dr. John C. Willke and Brad in 1991 to serve the educational needs of the pro-life movement. Brad hosts Life Issues, a daily radio commentary on abortion and other life issues that is carried on over 1,100 radio outlets in all 50 states across the U.S. with a weekly listening audience of 18 million. He also hosts a weekly half-hour radio program Straight Talk on Life Issues which takes a deeper dive into abortion and other life issues. Brad is president of the International Right to Life Federation, and a frequent international speaker and lecturer on abortion and related life issues. He has a master’s degree in Biblical Studies and Biblical Counseling from Master’s International University of Divinity. Brad and his wife have four sons and five grandchildren and live in New Port Richey, Florida.
