Senator Josh Hawley has launched a formal investigation into two major abortion pill manufacturers, Danco Laboratories and GenBioPro. Hawley has sent official letters requesting detailed information on the abortion pill mifepristone, with a deadline of April 24, 2026.
The letters ask the companies to provide documents covering adverse event reports, internal safety databases, marketing materials, and records of distribution and manufacturing. Hawley also seeks details about compliance with FDA safety regulations, including the Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies, and communications with regulators.
The investigation focuses on the reported risks and complications associated with mifepristone, aiming to gather full transparency on how these drugs are marketed and monitored.
Senator Hawley says the goal is to ensure that all necessary safety and regulatory standards are being met, and that accurate information is available regarding these widely used abortion pills.
