Organ Donation After Euthanasia

Bradley Mattes   |   October 24, 2019

A study published in the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association sent a chill up my spine.  It featured the advantages of organ donation from people who are euthanized.  It compared patients who received organs from donors who were so-called brain dead, those after circulatory death and those who were euthanized.  Researchers examined the percentage of patients whose organs or the patients themselves survived for three years.  The study showed those who received organs from euthanized people did better.  The next step to ensure the freshest organs will be to euthanize the person by removing the organs.  This slippery slope is fraught with dangers and pitfalls.  It’s a Pandora’s Box to be totally avoided.
