The Myth of Overpopulation Debunked

Bradley Mattes   |   February 08, 2024

Elon Musk is one of the few who have gotten it right. Contrary to what you’re hearing, the world does not have an overpopulation problem. Most of the globe is desperately struggling to increase their populations.

Musk posted on Twitter, “Population collapse is potentially the greatest risk to the future of civilization.”

Now we have the proof.

Pro-abortion advocates and their supporters have repeated ad nauseum that the world is overpopulated. They claim that abortion is the solution to curb the population and save the planet.

Not so fast.

Life Issues Institute is excited to announce its latest educational tool that will equip you to address the crisis of underpopulation. We’ve developed an interactive global map on the population status of each country. We have diligently researched and compiled relevant information from around the world to paint a very clear picture of how dire the situation is becoming.

Victor Nieves on our staff has overseen the development of the fertility/population map. He explains it this way. “Countries that are at or above replacement rate, and seeing a positive overall population growth rate are colored green. Countries that are at or above replacement rate but experiencing a negative overall population growth rate (or vice versa) are orange. Countries that are below replacement rate and experiencing a negative overall population growth rate are red. Clicking on a country will show their fertility rate, growth rate, and what steps, if any, they are taking to increase their population.”

Russia stands out for its unique approach to conceiving more babies!

To the best of our knowledge, no other tool like this exists. It is once again the fulfillment of Life Issues Institute’s mission to provide pro-life educational tools for the pro-life movement and public at large.

The map is intuitive and easy to interpret, making it easy for you to speak with knowledge and effectiveness on this critical subject of our day.

When a comparison is made between our interactive population map and a global map depicting laws on abortion, there is a near perfect inverse relationship between fertility rates and legalized abortion.

Uruguay stands out as an example. Its South American neighbors demonstrate encouraging fertility rates. However, after Uruguay legalized abortion it experienced a steep and accelerated decrease in fertility referred to as the “great decline.” Uruguay’s rate of legal abortion increased by 143%.

The evidence now shows that abortion and declining fertility rates are indisputably connected. Global infertility will impact every person on the earth. This new map will help silence the nonstop disinformation streaming from radical abortion advocates and others who say fewer children will be our environmental salvation.

Babies are a nation’s best renewable resource. They continue to be a blessing to their families and are essential to the health and economic wealth of a nation. Children aren’t a blight on the world, they are its future.

It’s time to turn the tables on the critics of newborn life.

Defending life,

Bradley Mattes,

President, Life Issues Institute
