Cincinnati, OH (June 12, 2013) – Life Issues Institute is pleased to announce that its weekly pro-life television program, Facing Life Head-On, has earned two Regional Emmy® Award nominations. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences granted both nominations in the Interview and Discussion Program category.

Brad Mattes, host and executive producer of the program, feels privileged to receive this esteemed recognition. “It’s an honor to once again be recognized by the Academy. These nominations are a testimony to the influence that compelling and inspirational pro-life programming can have. It has the power to tell moving stories that can change hearts to embrace life.”

The nominated episodes include Field of Miracles, an inspiring program about the Miracle League, an international group that builds customized baseball fields for kids with special needs. Sean Casey, a former Major League Baseball player, helped to fund the field in Pittsburgh. The show introduces viewers to enthusiastic players: Chloe Kondrich, who has Down syndrome, and Shawna Palmer, who has a rare chromosomal condition called Tetrasomy 18p. It is touching to watch them come together with their teammates and play with a passion and true joy for the game.

In addition, Teens Making Healthy Choices was nominated for its account of a program that focuses on helping teenagers make better life decisions when it comes to dating, sex and self-image. Healthy Visions is a week-long program for students that combats the “anything goes” philosophy of a sex-saturated culture. It is making quite an impact in the lives of teens, helping them develop the skills to deal with the challenging issues they face. In this episode, several students share how Healthy Visions literally changed their outlook and their lives for the better.

Winners will be announced July 20 at an awards ceremony.
