There’s a dangerous lie circulating that if abortion is illegal, women will be imprisoned for having a natural miscarriage. That claim simply isn’t true. No woman in the history of the United States has ever been charged and convicted for simply experiencing a miscarriage.

The media often cites cases involving other crimes, like improper disposal of a body, drug-related offenses, or abuse of a corps, never the miscarriage itself.

Miscarriage is not a crime. The last thing that those who have suffered from miscarriage need is to be lied to.

Women who lose pregnancies are not going to jail. On our website life issues dot org we have researched and refuted each false example the media has presented and shown no woman is imprisoned for miscarriage.
