On the Edge of Victory

Victor Nieves   |   April 02, 2026

As we prepare to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ this Easter, we should take hope in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 40:31: “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

At times, the edge of victory can feel as though it is the greatest defeat.

The battle for life has waged in this country for decades. We have seen victories and setbacks over the years. Through it all, the pro-life movement has continued to faithfully fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.

At this moment in time the abortion pill is ravaging our nation. Despite wins like Dobbs and the defunding of Planned Parenthood, recent Guttmacher data show that more than 1.1 million unborn babies were aborted in 2025. Public polling still shows a large percentage of the population supports abortion.

To some, it may feel like we are in a valley, fighting a battle that will never end. Some may be discouraged and tired.

No doubt many of the disciples felt that the death and burial of Jesus was the greatest defeat in the history of mankind. Yet the truth is, they were standing on the edge of the greatest victory in the history of the world. On the third day the tomb would be empty, Jesus had defeated death, hell, and the grave and through His grace mankind could be saved.

All our hope comes from Jesus. We do not know the future, but we can look at the past. Time and time again, God has shown His people what He can do. Think of the confusion that the Philistine army must have felt when they saw David walk out to meet Goliath on the battlefield. Surely this shepherd boy was on a suicide mission, right?

What those Philistines would soon come to know is that one man plus God is a majority, no matter what enemy he faces.

It is my prayer that the abortion industry will soon learn that same lesson. I believe that even through the darkest times we must maintain hope, we never know when we may be on the edge of victory.

Even when we may not see or understand God’s plan, He is always at work. This Easter take hope in the Gospel.

Happy Easter,
