High School for Pregnant and Parenting Girls

Here’s a shoutout to Lincoln Park High School in Brownsville, Texas.  The school is designed to help pregnant and parenting girls get their diplomas.  Cynthia Cardenas, the principal said, “We hold their futures in our hands as educators.  We have to do this the right way.”  Mothers have access to a free daycare center next door to the school.  Some moms take their children to classes with them.  The curriculum is like any other school in the district but they have concessions like excused absences for doctor appointments, car seats in the buses and teachers with baby clothes for their students.  One student didn’t see a way forward until she came to Lincoln Park.  Principal Cardenas said, the students “just need a little extra flexibility”.  God bless those making education possible for these mothers.
