Suicides Up After Legislation Passed

Bradley Mattes   |   December 06, 2022

A study from the Anscombe Bioethics center in Oxford, England shows a disturbing but unsurprising trend in countries and states where euthanasia or assisted suicide has been legalized. The laws result in an increase in assisted suicides but were accompanied by a significant increase in unassisted suicides – something euthanasia advocates said wouldn’t happen. Belgium legalized euthanasia and has the highest suicide rate in Western Europe. In America, suicide is rising more in states where assisted suicide has been legalized. Four peer-reviewed studies this year all indicate an increase. When legislation tells its citizens their lives aren’t worth living, those who are already struggling are more inclined to lose all hope. Jesus is the only thing that can fill the void.
