Pope Appoints Pro-Abortion Members

Pope Francis has been known to raise eyebrows among faithful Catholics.  The Pontifical Academy for Life was instituted to defend the right to life of all humans, born and unborn.  But the Pope’s recent appointment of Mariana Mazzucato to the Academy has caused controversy.  Mazzucato is an outspoken advocate of abortion.  After the reversal of Roe v Wade, she posted multiple tweets deriding the Court and called abortion “healthcare.”  The Pope responded to criticism saying she brings “a little more humanity.”  Mazzucato wasn’t the first pro-abortion member.  Five years earlier the Pope appointed Nigel Biggar from the UK who publicly supports abortion.  In addition, Academy members no longer must sign a declaration they’re pro-life or a Christian.
