The US Olympic Committee has refused requests for a boycott of American athletes during the Beijing Winter Olympics, saying there’s “no diplomatic benefit.” The Committee’s turning a blind eye to the China Communist Party’s acts of genocide against its Uyghur population – people who have no recourse for protection. We’re taking about forced abortions and sterilizations and killing of infants immediately after birth. There are many more crimes against humanity. An independent tribunal described them as “acts of unconscionable cruelty, depravity and inhumanity.” In spite of all these atrocities, China’s being rewarded with hosting the most prestigious gathering of the world’s best athletes. And it’s a mockery of the true mission of the Winter Olympics.
