Today is the first in a series of special programs this week honoring Parents’ Day this coming Sunday. Danielle Yonemura was just 14 when she became a mother. Many thought she should have an abortion, believing she’d never achieve her life goals if she gave birth. Danielle said yes to life and graduated from high school in the top 10% of her class. She went on to college and graduated with a degree in nursing. It wasn’t easy. At one point she and her daughter Leilani were homeless. They predicted Danielle’s baby would be the reason for failure, but Danielle said Leilani was the motivation for her success. This has been the triumphant story of many women. Their babies spurred them on through thick and thin. Danielle’s child was a blessing not a curse.
