John Barsa with the US Agency for International Development sent a scathing letter to the UN Secretary General, condemning the UN for forcing a pro-abortion agenda on other nations. Barsa’s letter read, “[W]e cannot stand by and watch the UN attempt to dictate a politicized agenda that gravely threatens…the human rights of the unborn, while simultaneously trampling on the sovereignty of prolife countries.” The Secretary general replied that the UN “does not promote, much less impose, abortion on anyone.” But as he was saying this, UN letters were being sent to states in America, criticizing them for not designating abortion as essential during the COVID pandemic. Barsa responded to this as an “affront to national sovereignty.” The UN status quo is no more.
