Precious Moments

This story is told without names but moving, nonetheless.  As a child, the woman noticed the mother’s ring her mom wore had two extra stones, which she explained were her twins who she placed for adoption.  It was a closed adoption and her mom was determined not to overstep her boundaries.  She felt it had to be the boys’ desire to reach out.  Then the mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and admitted to hospice.  Against her advice, the daughter reached out and told the boys if they wanted to see their birth mom, now was the time.  Within days the twins and their mother stood around the bed of the woman who made them a family.  The birth mom was overjoyed by their presence and within hours became tired, fell asleep and died peacefully that evening.  Adoption is the loving alternative.
