Pregnancy, Childbirth and Marriage Benefit Parents

Scores of studies show children do better in a family with a mother and father, but a new study out of the University of California, Berkeley shows children can have a dramatic impact the parents.  Researchers looked at birth, marriage and arrest records of over one million people in Washington State.  They wanted to know if children impacted criminal activity of their parents.  The findings showed pregnancy led to a considerable reduction in crime for both mother and father.  Marriage was also a factor and showed a sustained reduction in criminal activity.  Both children and their parents benefit from pregnancy, childbirth and marriage.  It’s a generational benefit.  Should we be surprised that an institution begun by our Creator is a blessing to all concerned? No, we shouldn’t.
