Canada Euthanasia Law Targeting Children

Bradley Mattes   |   January 03, 2018

Less than a year-and-a-half ago, Canada legalized euthanasia.  They’ve already discussed whether or not patients with dementia should be killed.  And now they’re targeting children.  Nearly half of the Canadian pediatricians who responded to a poll support euthanasia for children with “progressive terminal illness or intractable pain.”  We’ve already seen phrases like this twisted to include a wide selection of patients.  Many of these pediatricians said they’ve already had conversations with patients who are minors, or their parents about euthanasia.  Dr. Dawn Davies, head of the Canadian Pediatric Society’s bioethics committee said doctors should start thinking about when euthanasia would be a more compassionate choice.   Killing a child is never a compassionate choice.
