The Guttmacher Institute was founded as the research arm of Planned Parenthood. Since then it’s gone independent but is outwardly pro-abortion. So when they highlighted a study saying seven percent of women have to wait more than two weeks for an abortion, I consider it whining. I’m speaking from experience—not with abortion—but with surgical procedures. I’ve had over a dozen and all but one, which was an emergency, took over two weeks to schedule. I have news for Guttmacher. Surgery isn’t fast food. All surgery should require patients be fully informed about the procedure, including possible complications. Abortion shouldn’t be exempted from basic safety and health guidelines. But in most states they are, which is why legal abortion is equal to dangerous back-alley abortion.
