Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, made an ignorant and tragic statement. Regarding the abortion debate in America, she said, “Honestly I’m just so sick of men telling us what to do.” This statement reflects a cruel and callous attitude toward millions of fathers of unborn babies. Many of these men deeply care about the wellbeing of their children and desperately want to have a say in whether they live or die. But according to law, no father—not even the husband—has a right to protect his baby. Fathers don’t have a right to know about the pregnancy or the abortion. I counsel grieving fathers who’ve lost children to abortion. And I can tell Ms. Richards her sexist attitude toward men is offensive and results in enormous heartache and grief.
