On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Congress was supposed to vote on a bill to end abortion after five months of pregnancy because the baby can feel the excruciating pain of the abortion. Congresswoman Rene Ellmers, who claims to be pro-life, had a fit in the eleventh hour, complaining about wording to strengthen the rape exception. By the way, this was the exact wording in the exact bill she voted for in twenty-thirteen. Her shenanigans caused enough other Republican women to oppose the wording and the House leadership pulled the bill. Ellmers is in a strong pro-life district and felt the heat. Even so, she lashed out at pro-life leaders saying she was “appalled by the abhorrent and childish behavior” of us speaking out. Pro-life voters hired her and they can fire her just the same.
