I have the privilege of serving on the board of the Terri Schiavo Life and Hope Network. Recently, we held our second annual banquet to raise money for its work. Each year Terri’s family and the board of directors vote on a recipient of the Terri Schiavo Life and Hope Award. It was unanimous to honor the family of Jahi McMath who suffered devastating complications from a minor surgery. The hospital quickly declared Jahi dead and refused to treat her. Jahi’s family stood up to the hospital and fought them to transfer her to an undisclosed location where she’s now getting medical attention and is doing better. While speaking with Jahi’s family after the dinner, it was quickly apparent these people of faith won’t back down in protecting their daughter. They’re an example to us all.
