Hormonal Contraception Doubles Risk of Strokes

Bradley Mattes   |   February 24, 2014

February, now drawing to a close, is Heart Health Month. And the American Heart Association works hard to draw attention to the risk of heart disease and stroke in women. Recently, they’ve released stroke prevention guidelines, and some are both shocking and alarming to uninformed women. The American Heart Association says that hormonal contraception nearly double a woman’s risk of blood clots and strokes. The organization says about two-thirds of American women are overweight, one of the risk factors. For further information, we’ve posted resources at today’s broadcast link at life issues dot org. Be informed and be empowered.
