Russia Coming to Terms with Abortion

Bradley Mattes   |   December 20, 2013

Countries around the world are struggling with dangerously low or decreasing populations. Russia has more abortions than births so they’re implementing things to counter the downward spiral of their population. Abortion ads have now been banned. Proposed legislation would end free abortions, require a prescription for the morning-after pill, require parental consent for teenagers, as well as consent by the husband for married women to have an abortion. They’ll increase the monthly stipend the government gives to pregnant women, and pay a bonus of nine-thousand dollars to women for every birth after their first baby. But what they need to do most is totally stop the annual killing of more than five-million babies in the womb. This will make the band aid-approach unneeded.
