I love everything about babies. I especially love holding them. This made me think about the shepherds who came to see Jesus in the lowly stable. If I had been one of them, I would’ve probably asked Mary if I could hold Him. I’ve often asked the occasional stranger if I could hold their baby. But if I had been one of the shepherds, I wonder if Mary would’ve looked at my dirty appearance and smell and quickly made a polite excuse. First-time parents can be especially cautious. But something tells me she would’ve given me the joy of holding my Savior. Either way, it would’ve been a night worth remembering! And even though we have to wait to see Jesus, we know He’s made it possible to be with Him forever in heaven because of Christmas.
