French Terri Schiavo Case

Bradley Mattes   |   June 07, 2013

In the Bible, Nathanael asks, “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Of course the answer was yes. For many Americans, France has the same reputation as Nazareth. Can anything good come from there? And again the answer is yes. Certainly not on the level of our Savior, but very good news. A French court intervened in a case very similar to Terri Schiavo’s. Family members were split in whether or not care should be given, even though the patient interacted, on a limited basis, with those around him. Vincent Lambert had been taken off food and water and was dying a slow, agonizing death. Unlike in Florida with Terri Schiavo, the outcome was good. Judge Catherine Monbrun ruled in favor of resuming basic care of food and water. Good news indeed!
