Today I have some distressing news. Many of you are familiar with Pastor Rick Warren. He authored the best selling book, Purpose Driven Life. Rick and his wife, Kay, started Saddleback Church in Southern California in 1979. Since then, the church has grown to over 20,000 members.
As of late, Rick Warren has felt a call to do more in the area of AIDS. He organized the Race Against Time, 2006 Global Summit on AIDS and the Church. His efforts are commendable. Rick has a genuine heart for those who suffer from this debilitating and lethal disease. He feels the church must do more to minister to the victims of AIDS and work to stop its spread. The Summit runs from November 30th through December 1st.
Rick has assembled an impressive list of speakers. Such notables include Franklin Graham and Senator Sam Brownback from Kansas. But sadly, he has also included Senator Barack Obama from Illinois. Senator Obama is solidly pro-abortion. His voting record in the Senate is 100% pro-abortion. Senator Obama has voted to:
- Fund overseas organizations that promote and provide abortion.
- Support using your tax dollars to fund embryo-killing stem cell research.
- Allow a minor daughter to be secretly transported across state lines to have an abortion without the knowledge or permission of her parents. This is a way of avoiding state laws requiring parental involvement before a minor daughter can have an abortion.
In a fundraising letter, Senator Obama stated that a ban on Partial-Birth Abortion is clearly unconstitutional and must be overturned. This is the horribly cruel method of late-term abortion, which drags the baby feet first from the womb, then stabs her in the back of the head and sucks out her brains.
Senator Obamas solution to AIDS is the widespread distribution of condoms, not abstinence until marriage. How can Senator Obama work to protect life from AIDS while he supports abortion-on-demand throughout pregnancy, which results in 1.3 million deaths each year? Thats over 3,500 deaths of preborn children every day. Since its legalization, abortion has killed over 45 million unborn babies.
Time is short. We need your immediate action. Please contact Saddleback Church and politely, but in the strongest possible terms, ask Rick Warren to rescind his invitation to Barack Obama.
