It’s never too late

It’s a fact that chemical abortions are on the rise. Abortion mills rely heavily on the abortion pill known as RU 486. This procedure is intended for use to seven to nine weeks of pregnancy. It’s a multi-stage process that begins with a drug called mifepristone, which blocks progesterone, causing the uterine lining to break down. Approximately 36 to 72 hours later, another drug is taken to cause contractions and expel the dead baby. While RU 486 is billed as a “safer” alternative to surgical abortion, it carries its own risks including blood clots, severe cramping, loss of blood, increased risk of infection and even death. The process can take anywhere from hours to weeks. And some women find themselves having a change of heart in the midst of this deadly process.

Thankfully, there’s now an option for women who change their minds. A study recently published in The Annals of Pharmacotherapy revealed there’s a window of opportunity that can potentially reverse a chemical abortion. The intervention occurs after the first dose of mifepristone through an injection of progesterone. The progesterone then works to maintain the lining of the uterus, thereby sustaining the pregnancy. In the study, more than half of the women were able to carry their pregnancies to term.

This is life-saving news that must be shared! The website www.abortionpillreversal.com was created in an effort to increase awareness and help women to connect with doctors who are willing to perform the reversal procedure. In addition to information about the reversal process, it also shares personal stories, including an 18-year-old woman named Rhonda who sought an abortion early in her pregnancy. Less than seven weeks along, she chose to take RU 486. Rhonda regretted her decision and was miraculously connected with a doctor to attempt a reversal. The first step was to conduct an ultrasound to see if the baby was still alive. Upon seeing the beating heart, Rhonda, her mother and boyfriend all began to cry. I can only imagine what it was like to be in that room as Rhonda realized she and her baby had both been given a second chance at life.

We want all women to realize they can make a choice for life. Even when the odds seem impossible—even when she’s told by abortion mill staff that it’s too late—there can still be hope. A 24-hour referral line is available to connect women with doctors who will conduct this reversal procedure. Call 877-558-0333. If your local doctor would like to be added to the list, please let us know.

In closing, I want to ask you for prayer. On Monday, February 4, the crew for our pro-life television program, Facing Life Head-On and I will be heading to Ethiopia for two weeks to film two international specials. One of our stops will be a maternity home for girls, some of whom have escaped violent circumstances. The goal is to show how people in struggling countries face unimaginable hurdles, yet still choose life for their babies. Please pray for safe travels and for our program to depict their stories in a powerful way. I’ll share some thoughts and pictures with you when I get back.

For mothers and babies,
