Nearly 50 years ago, civil rights supporters boarded buses in hopes of solidifying a Supreme Court decision that outlawed racial segregation. This weekend, a new kind of Freedom Ride hits the road.
The Freedom Ride for the Unborn is already attracting people of diverse ages, ethnicities and backgrounds. Traveling from Birmingham to Atlanta, the caravan of pro-lifers are setting out to draw public attention to the civil rights crisis of this century.
The fact is: we still struggle with issues of equality and human dignity. But today it’s babies in the womb who are oppressed, given no voice, cast aside at the whim and will of another.
It’s hard to imagine that there are people who would rise up against a baby’s life, but pro-abortion groups are already banding together to protest this weekend’s Freedom Ride. Thankfully, they are running out of steam. Just as opposition to the original civil rights movement only sparked greater nationwide fervor, America is catching on to this important issue, too. In fact, most of our neighbors consider themselves pro-life. But our work is not done. There is still tremendous hostility toward the unborn. Without someone to stand up for these vulnerable lives, they will continue to die.
If you are able, please consider joining this weekend’s event or organizing a Freedom Ride in your own area. Here’s a link to more information. After all, it was one ride, those 50 years ago, that multiplied into dozens and ultimately changed the hearts and minds of a nation. Please take action. The unborn babies don’t deserve to take a backseat anymore.
