If two million people have been helped by using Adult Stem cells, why are we still talking about embryonic cells?  How do adult stems cells work and why do embryonic stem cells not succeed?

We answer these questions and more as we sit down with Dr. David Prentice, a longtime stem cell researcher and policy adviser, to separate stem cell hype from stem cell results, and to name the ethical stakes that often get blurred on purpose.

Stem Cell Research Facts

This is an educational web site created with the goal of connecting stem cell science, patients and stories. Our Success Stories come from people who have experienced a successful adult stem cell transplant. My Experience is a place where we give transplant recipients the time to share their personal experiences with a little more depth.

Stem Cell Connect is not a clinic, has no doctors and performs no stem cell transplants. We seek to connect those looking for information about the various types of stem cell research with the science and the experiences of those who’ve lived it. We welcome your feedback.

SALT – Science Alliance for Life and Technology

The Science Alliance for Life and Technology (SALT) is a new collaboration of expert scientists committed to guiding science with strong ethical standards. We work to shape technologies that protect life and serve human dignity. Our goal is to ensure that progress in fields like genetics, stem cell research, and AI remains both effective and morally responsible.

Midwest Stem Cell Therapy Center

The Midwest Stem Cell Therapy Center (MSCTC) is a research and development center, identifying adult stem cell applications for the treatment of various human healthcare conditions. The center is housed within the University of Kansas Medical Center campus in Kansas City, Kansas. The MSCTC is designed to serve as a hub of adult stem cell therapy, research and education in the State of Kansas and the adjoining region. We currently do not treat patients.

We are actively involved in human clinical trials that define the safety and efficacy of the adult stem cells we are investigating.

Exciting Breakthrough with Adult Stem Cells

Promising research is currently being conducted with adult stem cells to treat symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, using induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. These cells are capable of forming into any cell type in the body.

One particular study deserves your attention.

Dr. Jun Takahashi and his team at Kyoto University in Japan have begun a clinical trial that implants neurons from iPS cells into the brains of patients with Parkinson’s disease.
