The US Supreme Court will hear oral arguments December 1st on the Dobbs late-term abortion case.
Between now and their ruling likely in early summer, there’s something you and I can be doing to impact the outcome of this Supreme Court decision and the future of millions of unborn babies.
“The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.”
Psalm 145:18 NIV
These words of the Psalmist demonstrate the importance of prayer and God’s desire to be near us. This is our clarion call to action.
I invite you to join me and countless other Americans in an ecumenical nationwide prayer initiative for the unborn and the US Supreme Court, called On Our Knees, 31 Days of Prayer for Life.
The Dobbs case involves Mississippi legislation that prohibits abortion on children 15 weeks or older. America is one of a small handful of countries, including China and North Korea, that permit abortion on demand throughout pregnancy. By comparison, 47 of 50 European countries limit abortion prior to 15 weeks.
Your fellow Christians are extending this heartfelt invitation to you and others to join us in prayer:
“On Our Knees calls upon the Lord asking for His mercy and favor. We aim to join the scores of people who have been praying faithfully and working valiantly on behalf of the unborn. Whether you have been engaged in this work for decades or today is your first day, we welcome you to join us in prayer.”
A free prayer guide has been developed to assist your daily prayers on behalf of America’s unborn children, Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch, and each justice of the US Supreme Court.
Each day the Prayer Guide focuses on four key elements:
Praise: Offer praise to the King of kings and Lord of Lords.
Repentance: Acknowledge our own sinful nature and the need for God’s forgiveness through the blood of His son Jesus Christ.
Thanksgiving: Demonstrate a thankful heart for all that the Lord has done for us and those close to us.
Supplication: Ask God to intercede in our lives and also provide for the needs of others.
Bible passages that apply to each key element are provided, but you are welcome to add your own. A beautiful prayer is also supplied, and you are encouraged to also speak to the Lord from your heart.
The Guide also includes biographies of Attorney General Lynn Fitch and each Supreme Court Justice to give you added insight for your prayers.
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20
In addition to your daily prayers, you can join with others for a brief time of prayer on behalf of our nation. Each Monday evening at 8:30 Eastern time, we will connect by phone for 15-20 minutes, seeking the Lord’s face and His intervention on behalf of the Dobbs court case. “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16b
I have long said that prayer is a gift worth more than gold because we know the power behind it. We serve a loving and mighty God who desires to hear from His children and to bless them.
Roughly nine months from now – equal to the time spent in our mother’s womb – the Court will reveal its decision. Now is the time to be On Our Knees, 31 Days of Prayer for Life.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Pray like life depends upon it. It does! Please join us in prayer today.
