Much has been said about big tech’s intentional manipulation of public opinion to favor liberal ideologies. Many of us have personally felt the double standards, shadow bans, and censorship. A new study conducted by “Media Research Center’s Free Speech America” has discovered that Google, the world’s largest search engine, is promoting abortion.
Key findings of the research:
- When users search Google for the word “pregnancy” the first search result is a link directly to Planned Parenthood.
- Stories of women who regretted their abortions were buried at the bottom of the search results.
- Google’s artificial intelligence tool “Bard” will not provide the pro-life justification when asked about the Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade.
- Google will not allow ads promoting abortion pill reversal on their platform.
Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Google made their stance on abortion clear. The company announced they will pay for their employees to travel out of state to get abortions if they live in a state where babies are legally protected. Google employees have also been shown to financially support Planned Parenthood, having raised $800k for them in 2016.
The battle for life is fought with information. If women are inundated with pro-abortion messaging and propaganda, it is no surprise that they will view abortion as their only option. Breaking through this big tech blockade could literally be a matter of life or death.
Pro-life education has an undeniable impact on women, and men, who receive it. When mothers see their ultrasound 80% of them will chose life. Women deserve to know that there are resources out there. They are not alone in their pregnancy. There is another option besides abortion, one that both the mother and child can live with. Intentionally withholding this life saving information from women is sinister.
Google’s competitors like Bing, and DuckDuckGo direct search results for “pregnancy” to information from the Mayo Clinic. This is a reasonable, common sense search result that does not place women in the pipeline to abortion. Google’s spokesperson commented on the discovery and claimed “There’s no validity to these allegations of bias. We don’t manipulate search results, modify our products or enforce our policies in any way to promote or disadvantage any particular ideology or viewpoint. For the search queries that were studied, Google shows a range of sources and perspectives, contrary to the misleading suggestions of the report.”
No one should take Google at their word, instead you can simply test it for yourself. Planned Parenthood consistently enjoys favorable treatment in search results while pro-life resources are buried. Life Issues Institute can attest to this from firsthand experience. In 2022, Life Issues Institute kicked off a months-long, two-phase digital educational campaign. Over 10,000 people were watching our videos each day!
Then the Supreme Court document leaked May 5. On May 6 video views dropped from 10,000 to under 4,000, the day after down to 2,221 and averaged approximately 2,500 thereafter.
Google was shadow banning us. The experienced professional placing the videos for us said it was the most blatant case of censorship he had ever seen. It was particularly disturbing because he had literally spent weeks jumping through Google’s hoops to ensure that each video qualified as “eligible,” and that Life Issues Institute was “certified” to run abortion ads.
Big tech giants like Facebook, Twitter, and Google have regularly promised that they do not censor anyone. The record tells a very different story.
Life Issues Institute will continue to provide lifesaving pro-life education and break through the big tech blockades.
Defending all life,
Bradley Mattes
