More than 140 doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in Yorkshire are warning that Britain’s proposed assisted suicide legislation is unsafe.
These medical professionals say the NHS is already under immense pressure, while access to palliative and social care remains deeply unequal—especially for rural patients, people with dementia, and vulnerable communities.
Their message is simple: before offering assisted death, Britain must ensure every patient has access to compassionate, high-quality end-of-life care.
These assisted suicide programs have a proven track record of expansion and abuse. Around the world many people have been ushered to an early grave because of so-called assisted suicide laws. People deserve care, not death.
