Recently, pro-abortion Colorado State Representative Julie McCluskie made a perverse statement. She claimed the state should pay for all Medicaid abortions because it’s cheaper than the cost of giving birth. So, let’s kill our unborn babies to save a buck. Not only is her statement scraping the bottom of the ethics barrel, she’s absolutely wrong. If Medicaid pays for elective abortions in Colorado, the number of abortions will increase. On the other hand, The state taxpayers only pays a fraction of the cost related to Medicaid births. Elective abortions often include an additional cost of post-abortion care. Late-term abortions are astronomically expensive. And there’s the cost for women suffering from physical and emotional complications. No, abortion is not cheaper than giving birth.
