One of the pro-life movement’s most formidable and effective leaders quietly slipped into eternity at the age of one hundred. Her name was Geline Williams and was loved and respected by everyone who knew her, including supporters of abortion. I knew Geline while serving as a member of the board of directors of National Right to Life Committee. She represented the state of Virginia and served for many years as the Chairman of the Board. Geline was the epitome of a southern belle, while serving as mayor of Richmond, Virginia and on its city council. The mistake her opposition sometimes made was underestimating this gentile, always polite woman. She could be a fist in a velvet glove when the situation required. Geline, you were greatly admired and will be sorely missed.
