A new peer-reviewed study shows nearly seventy percent of women experience what they consider to be unwanted abortions. A study published in the medical journal Cureus, did a deep dive with over one thousand women, asking what was the motivating factor behind their abortion. The result was tragic. Most said the abortion was inconsistent with their values and preferences. Many said they would’ve given birth if they had received emotional or financial support. Unwanted abortions have reached an epidemic level – one in four women – which is far more than the average person would imagine. Other research shows they have higher levels of mental health and quality-of-life issues. For the sake of women, we must jettison the idea that abortion is “freedom of choice.”
