Louisiana passed some brilliant legislation. After passing an earlier law ending abortion, the state’s been flooded with illegal black market abortion pills. One female doctor said the pills “are recklessly available online and on the streets.” This new law classifies the abortion pills as controlled substances. This means if a person in Louisiana is caught with these drugs without a prescription, they could spend as many as ten years in prison. Pregnant women are exempt from prosecution. The bill also makes it a “crime of coerced criminal abortion by means of fraud” if a predator gives a pregnant women chemical abortion pills without her knowledge or consent. We must stop the flow of black-market pills into pro-life states, and this is a good beginning. Let’s hope other states follow.
