Thanks for joining me all this week as we feature individuals with Down syndrome in celebration of World Down Syndrome Day. While in college, Francesco was concerned whether his brother Carlo would find suitable work. Carlo has Down syndrome. Francesco’s Italian heritage made him think a moveable cart selling authentic gelato was the answer. He even moved to Italy where he was trained in the art of making gelato. As a result, La Marmotta Gelateria, their new business, was born in Washington, DC. This new undertaking employs people with intellectual disabilities because they believe “work is a fundamental part of our human dignity.” This delicious treat is provided at birthdays, weddings, business events, or any special occasion. It sounds delicious!
