In our home we leave the Christmas trees and all the trimmings up through Epiphany that marks the arrival of the Magi to worship the King of kings and Lord of lords. They brought Jesus gifts of gold, incense, and myrrh. When the evil king Herod realized the Magi had outfoxed him by not reporting back, he was furious. Herod ordered all the male children two and younger in and around Bethlehem to be killed. The book of Matthew references Jeremiha, “Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.” Pro-lifers empathize with the pain of a mother weeping for her aborted child. As we pause this weekend to commemorate Epiphany, pray for the many mothers who weep because their children are no more.
