Here’s a sweet story that puts a whole new meaning on sandwich bags. Chantelle and Daniel delivered their tiny daughter, and I do mean tiny, at twenty-three weeks. Robyn weighed only eleven ounces at birth. Doctors did the usual things for such a super premature baby like intubating her and placing Robyn in an incubator. But they took an extra precaution to keep her fragile body warm. They gingerly slipped her into a tiny sandwich bag. It was crucial to keep her organs warm while she grew. Periodically, her parents would carefully slip their hands into the bag while speaking to Robyn to let her know mom and dad were there. Already familiar with the sound of their voices, she would grab their fingers. Next time you open a sandwich bag, think of Robyn.
