Pregnancy centers are the tip of the spear in the fight for life. Pro-life pregnancy care centers are so successful in fact that it is estimated they have saved some two million babies and provided $266 million worth of free services to women in need.
Because of this, they have become a primary target of radical abortion supporters. Pro-choice advocates are attempting to prevent these centers from providing potentially lifesaving care.
The state of Colorado has passed the first of its kind legislation preventing pregnancy centers from providing abortion pill reversal services. These services are provided to women who take the first pill in the chemical abortion regimen and then have a change of heart. Rather than taking the second drug they can take progesterone to reverse the effects of the abortion pill.
This has proven successful in up to 68% of cases and has saved thousands of unborn babies. Progesterone has been around since the 1950s and has long been used to combat miscarriage. Fighting back, the Bella Health and Wellness healthcare center is suing the state of Colorado, seeking to prevent enforcement of the law.
Unfortunately, Colorado is not alone in their efforts to force women to go through with an abortion decision that they regret. The state of California, notorious for its pro-abortion policies, has sued pregnancy centers in an effort to stop them from saving babies.
Most recently, the state Attorney General Rob Bonta is targeting two organizations, Heartbeat International and Real Options Obria Medical Clinics, both of which provide abortion pill reversal services. The state claims that the clinics are issuing “fraudulent and misleading claims” about what he describes as an “experimental procedure.”
This is patently false. The pregnancy centers under attack make no guarantee that the treatment will be successful. They simply give women who have changed their mind another option, a chance to chose life.
Pro-abortion advocates often claim that they want women to have a choice, yet now they strip away a mother’s choice to change her mind. There is no reason to prevent these women from attempting to reverse the effects of the abortion pill.
We must stand firm in our defense of these pregnancy centers who are on the frontlines in the battle for life.
