In honor of World Down Syndrome Day, today, I want to congratulate James Martin, who starred in a film called An Irish Goodbye that won an Academy Award last week! What made the night even more special, it was James’ birthday, so the audience sang “Happy Birthday” to him. James wore his dad’s leopard-skin jacket that made him a stand-out. About filming the Oscar-winning film, James said, “We had such fun.” And he had a message to others with disabilities. “I would say to people who have autism, Down syndrome or some other physical disability, I would say go for it, act your heart out…don’t let people say you can’t act.” Check out our website at lifeissues.org for a wealth of resources and information on the guests I feature this week.
