Kelly Hughes fostered seven children in one year. When a sibling group arrived with only a few diapers and a dirty bottle, she knew a need had to be filled. Kelly founded Foster Love Project to provide kids with backpacks full of necessities like a toothbrush, toothpaste, comfort objects like a stuffed animal or blanket. And of course, diapers and bottles if needed. Kelly partnered with rue 21, a clothing brand catering to teens. This year the company’s departments competed against each other. Venders even got into the act. Their goal was to raise $10.000 for Foster Love Project, and they came up with over a $100,000! This is enabling Kelly’s group to expand and provide more resources for foster kids at a critical time.
