Supreme Court Rules on Abortifacients

Bradley Mattes   |   July 09, 2020

It’s pretty dismal that a president, in this case the Obama administration, over a long, seven-year period, made it possible to harass and threaten the religious rights of Americans, in particular a group of nuns called Little Sisters of the Poor.  They were being forced to provide abortion-causing drugs in their health care plans, or face crushing fines.  The US Supreme Court ruled in favor of their firmly held religious aversion to abortion.  Conscience rights that protect religious freedom are a founding American principle that should never be violated or denied.  Two years ago, the Trump administration finalized rules to protect religious and moral objectors from Obama-era regulations that force people like you and I to provide abortifacient drugs.  Hopefully, this is finally settled.
