An anonymous mother posted advice for parents who face a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome. This woman had two abortions, one her first year of college and the other during her last year. Both, she said, for frivolous reasons. After marriage, she was blessed with a live birth, followed by a miscarriage and then another pregnancy. Her latest child had Down syndrome. Initially the news was devastating, and fear gripped her life, which is common. But she and her family quickly realized the many blessings the child brought into their lives. This mother wrote, “Fear is a fleck of dust that will quickly be blown away by the tornado of love you will feel.” These are wise words from an experienced mother. Future parents would be blessed to remember them.
