Office for Civil Rights Takes Action

Bradley Mattes   |   September 09, 2019

When Donald Trump, the candidate, ran for office, he promised to protect medical professionals from being forced to participate in abortion.  As president, Mr. Trump has delivered on this promise and more.  He directed the US Department of Health and Human Services to establish the Office for Civil Rights, which would act against facilities that violate federal law by forcing medical professionals to participate in procedures that violate their ethics or religious beliefs.  The University of Vermont Medical Center, charged with forcing a nurse to assist in an abortion, is finding out the President’s true to his word.  The Office for Civil Rights is taking action to bring the hospital back into compliance with federal law.  Elections have consequences.  These violations were ignored under the Obama administration.
