Religion Baiting

Bradley Mattes   |   January 22, 2019

Democrat Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard from Hawaii publicly took her fellow Democrat colleague, Senator Mazie Hirono, to task. Senator Hirono, a member of the Judiciary committee, objected to the religious faith of Brian Buescher who was nominated to the US District Court of Nebraska. She and another senator proposed he resign his affiliation with the Catholic Knights of Columbus, saying it “has taken a number of extreme positions.” One of those being pro-life. Congresswoman Gabbard wrote in an op-ed, “Elected leaders engaging in religion-baiting are playing with fire. They are sacrificing the well-being, peace and harmony of our country to satisfy their own political ambitions for partisan political interests.”
