Timo Soini, the Foreign Minster of Finland, faced a no confidence vote because of his pro-life views. Fellow cabinet members repeatedly attacked, and the opposition called him an “embarrassment for Finland.” He’s faced repeated criticism for participating in a pro-life, candlelight vigil in Canada, and for lamenting the success of a pro-abortion referendum in Ireland. Plus, he congratulated the Argentine legislature for voting down a pro-abortion bill. Timo said, “I’m not ashamed of it, nor will I ever be.” On his blog he wrote, “How odd it is that someone would have to defend the right to defend life.” And for the confidence vote, he won with 60 percent. Timo said, “Sometimes you have to have the courage to be a one-man majority.”
