Thirteen-year-old Trenton McKinley suffered serious head trauma when injured by a freak dune buggy accident. Doctors said he had been dead for 15 minutes. Trenton’s situation was dire. Doctors told his mom the next time his heart stopped they would let him die, unless she signed permission allowing them to harvest his organs. In which case they’d keep him alive until Monday, so she signed it. The next day Trenton’s hand moved, then his feet. Brain injuries take time. Why were doctors so quick to give up? Was it the promise of donated organs? Trenton had seven skull fractures and will require more surgeries. He’s got a tough road ahead but he’s making progress. Considering his brush with death, it appears God has a plan for this young man.
