Study Shows Fathers Important to Daughters

Bradley Mattes   |   April 26, 2018

Conventional wisdom says the relationship between mother and daughter is the most important.  But a study published in the Journal of Family Psychology states the father’s role is just as critical.  Having a father figure provides for vital emotional growth.  Girls raised with a loving father are more emotionally balanced, less likely to be depressed or suffer from anxiety.  They’re also more comfortable with expressing their feelings and better at dealing with stressful situations.  Another big advantage is fathers demonstrate to their daughters how they should be treated by men when they grow up.  Over the years the media more often than not portray fathers as ignorant dunces.  Perhaps, common sense and studies like this will help turn the social tide back in favor of valuing and respecting fatherhood.
