Jerry Coyne, a pro-evolution blogger, has weighed in on infanticide and euthanasia. For years I have warned after abortion was legalized, it’s simply a matter of time before they will want euthanasia. Mr. Coyne clearly demonstrates my point. He wrote, “If you are allowed to abort a fetus that has a severe genetic defect, microcephaly, spina bifida, or so on, then why aren’t you able to euthanize that same fetus just after it’s born?” I disagree with him, but his logic is reasonable. Once you deem one segment of society unworthy of life, what’s to stop you from killing others? Coyne thinks our respect for human life comes from religion. He writes, “When religion vanishes, as it will, so will much of the opposition to both adult and newborn euthanasia.” We must prove him wrong.
