Phyllis Schlafly

Bradley Mattes   |   September 12, 2016

The pro-life movement lost an iconic figure last week. Phyllis Schlafly died from cancer at the age of ninety-two. She was a perfect example of how much one person can accomplish.  She was credited with stopping the Equal Rights Amendment which seemed to be unstoppable at the time.  But when she sounded the alarms why the ERA would be bad for our nation, people listened and support all but evaporated.  It would’ve embedded tax funding of abortion into our constitution. Phyllis was a brilliant person who was an advisor to Ronald Reagan and a constant fixture at conservative events.  She is largely responsible for the pro-life platform in the Republican Party.  My wife and I saw Phyllis in June while in Cleveland and marveled how she kept going to the end.
